SEA deals with health care, social affairs, school education researches, training and international cooperation. It provides information, education, training and cares concerning sexuality. SEA cooperates with school students, teachers and social workers in the field of prevention.
The Foundation’s objectives are:
- providing information, education, training and care concerning sexuality;
- changing risk behaviour and negative attitudes towards HIV+ people;
- cooperating with postgraduate education for teachers, school nurses, school doctors and social workers;
- evaluating the Hungarian sex and AIDS programmes;
- coordinating the umbrella network of NGOs in Hungary working in the fields of sexuality, AIDS and human trafficking;
- outreach work with underprivileged people including prostitutes, men who have sex with men, disabled people and Roma people.
Important activities carried out by the Foundation with regard to AIDS prevention and
youth are:
- training of sex educators and peer educators;
- education programmes in schools;
- training of teachers for disabled children;
- training for sex workers/prostitutes;
- meetings, conferences;
- television and radio programmes, media contacts;
- exhibitions;
- leaflets, booklets, posters and the Sex AIDS Info newsletter;
- research;
- evaluation and monitoring.
The Foundations’ main partners with regard to AIDS prevention and youth are: Semmelweis University, Institute of Public Health, the IOM, IPPF European Network, Peer Education Program of Los Angeles, Health Services in Israel, UNAIDS- Heidelberg, TAMPEP (Transnational AIDS/STI Prevention Among Migrant Prostitutes in Europe), IOM/Budapest.
